| Lawrence-based local LA-3 is seen picking up an empty bulkhead car as they work customers inside "The Shops." This area, known formally as Iron Horse Park is the site of Pan Am Railway's headquarters. The large brick building to the right was the Boston & Maine Billerica Shops where the B&M performed heavy repairs on its locomotive fleet as far back as the steam era. Today the structure is in major disrepair. The railroad still services a handful of customers inside the complex, most often switched by the Sunday-Thursday LA-3 job. |
