It's more then 6 years now, since I was standing on the hill, early on a beautiful, clear and rather cold sunday morning, looking down to this huge yard in Barstow. Together with two friends, I was on a 3 week trip between Denver and San Francisco, which I remember very fondly. In the foreground the 48 classification tracks, behind the hump and the 10 recieving tracks. In the middle in the background the locomotive repair and servicing facility, nearer the car repair shop with storage tracks on the right. On the far right the departure yard and through train inspection yard. In the far background right you can see a manifest coming from Mojave/Tehachapi.
