St. Maries yard After switching the PotlatchDeltic mill on the west side of town, St. Maries River Railroad SW1200 No. 501 rolls slowly through the empty yard at St. Maries on the way back to the depot on October 7, 2019. Weeds seem to be reclaiming the former Milwaukee Road main line (far left) and yard tracks in this Idaho community that was a latter-day crew change on the on the Pacific Extension’s infamous “gap”.
