Making good time on its southern trip down the rails that the famous Daylight passenger train once plied, Amtrak's southbound Coast Starlight races across the 811-foot-long Gaviota trestle. Today's train No. 11 is led by a veteran Dash-8BWH locomotive, the AMTK 510, that was delivered to Amtrak in December of 1991. With almost 30 years of service under its belt, this unit is no stranger to the coast line and still looks sharp on the point of a long distance passenger train.
