Southern Railway’s train 6, the northbound Piedmont, prepares to depart Charlotte, North Carolina, on a gloomy July 3, 1976. A pair of FP7s, SOU 6146 and 6143, were easily able to handle this four-car train as it headed from Charlotte to Washington DC.
