Remarks & Notes |
A Q-train from South Seattle to Chicago pounds over the CN Dubuque Sub at East Dubuque on the Aurora Sub. This train is carrying alot of hot UPS trailers, but the Q-symbol hasn't done much for hottest since their 6:19 am departure from LaCrosse. The train sat somewhere up north for over 5 hours and now has only made it 115 miles in 8 hours.
Above the engines, to the right, the bluff ledge was once the old highway 20 that crossed the Mississippi River into Dubuque via the "Wagon Bridge" that was built in 1887. That bridge stayed in place til the current Julien-Dubuque Bridge was built in 1942. As one can see the old road has been taken over by rock and trees in the pass 77 years.
