| BNSF7034 leads a morning manifest up the Moffat Road at Tunnel 1. The "V" made by the two mountains in the background is Coal Creek Canyon. A earlier attempt to breech the Front Range by the Denver and North Western Railroad was attempted straight up Coal Creek Canyon on a grade just over 2%. Supposedly there are traces of the the partially graded line in Coal Creek Canyon, but with todays home construction and highway, I have yet to spot any of the early rail bed. |
