ATSF 302C and 305C take a rest at the former Santa Fe Archer Avenue coach yard and passenger locomotive facility south of downtown Chicago on a sunny September day in 1972. Now run by Amtrak, these units have seen better days and are no longer getting the attention Santa Fe once gave them. Note the broken windshield on 305C. Hints of better days still remain in the form of silver overspray on the pilots. Santa Fe used to repaint these after each transcontinental trip as necessary.
