Within weeks of Penn Central's takeover of the New Haven, ex-PRR E8s began to take over Boston-New Haven passenger runs from the NH's own FL9s. A year after the merger, sets of FL9s and E8s in three color schemes posed at Dover Street yard in South Boston on a winter day.
