Remarks & Notes
The head end of this northbound train has passed through the rock cut at the north end of Hammond Lake, and is about to cross the overpass over PA Rt. 287. In less than 6 months, the approximate 65 miles of the former NYC line south of here from Wellsboro Junction to Jersey Shore, PA, the track through "the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania" and down through Pine Creek Valley would be abandoned and be dismantled by mid-1989. Service through this area from Wellsboro, PA to Corning, NY is now provided by Wellsboro & Corning Railroad (WCOR). Passenger excursion service through this scenic area is provided by the Tioga Central Railroad.
