Remarks & Notes

The #927 runs under a double-pantograph order due to a snow/ice storm in February of 1976. GG-1s tended to have issues in snow, particularly the dry sugar-like variety, which entered the internal cavity through the nose grilling and caused a wide array of electrical mayhem, (Pennsy Electric Years, 1991). Apparently, they ran both pans energized at times during such weather instead of the front pan serving only as a dead 'catenary cleaner', which was usually the case with the other dual-pan motors, (Pennsy Electric Years, 1991). A Walter Schopp original Kodachrome slide from my collection. (NOTE: I will update the location information if someone knows where this was taken. Mr. Schopp did not specify).
