It's now a universal design, but when MLW delivered Providence & Worcester M420 2002 and its four sisters in 1974-75 they represented the first widecab diesels purchased by a US road. (It was called a "Canadian cab" in those days, having been developed for CN.) P&W 2002 eased a local freight into the yard at Valley Falls, RI, on a bright spring day.
