Finally the assignment was completed under the late night sky, as NS 348 (Linwood,NC-Chattanooga,TN) power wait to uncouple from its train to go into the diesel shop at Chattanooga,TN. Its amazing that just three days ago this train was just departing from the Linwood Classification Yard, and it was well worth seeing the honor guest on the lead. UP 1996 some how made its way east from the wild west of UP country and pop up in the south pull this southern base manifest. The Georgia Div. crew which got on this train just a day ago had just ran out of time once this manifest got into the Chattanooga area, than from there the local TC28 handle the train from (CP) Jersey to Debutts yard. Note this was shot at the Chattanooga Tent Company with permission!!!!!

Railroading is a 24 hour a day business, that never sleep. From sunset to sunrise the railroad must run. These image are taken by some of the best rail photographer out their.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
