Remarks & Notes
These unique RDCs with locomotive-style cabs were built in 1957 as part of a six-car experimental train for the New Haven RR, called the "Roger Williams" and intended for Boston-New York service. That didn't work out and they spent their lives in Boston commuter service before going to Amtrak in the 70s. They have since been preserved by a private owner. In this 1979 shot they're picking up passengers at Meriden, CT, on a Springfield-New Haven shuttle run.
