Denver & Rio Grande Western #489, a 1925 K36 mikado goes around the loop at Tanglefoot Curve with a 30 car freight train bound for Chama and ultimately the oilfields around Farmington, NM. This charter train was put together specifically for shots like this, where the long freight train fills the sweeping curve at Tanglefoot. While the narrow gauge mainline is history, charters like this one, a Friends of the C&TS excursion recreate history for those of us who were born too late.
