Remarks & Notes
A MARC special from Hagerstown to Gettysburg and New Oxford is passing through the famous railroad cut, where, on the morning of July 1, 1863, the Confederate brigade of Brig. Gen. Joseph R. Davis was severely handled by elements of the Union I Corps. The Union regimental monuments of the 6th Wisconsin and 95th New York are in the left background. For the rest of the story, see "Gettysburg--The First Day," by Harry W. Pfanz, UNC Press. Cab car No. 7745 is a Nippon Sharyo U.S.A. product.
