U722-27 rolls west on the CN&L subdivision just outside of Newberry, SC. The CN&L Sub was once a busy coal artery into SC, however since the shutdown of the Clinchfield and war on coal, the line is only a former shell of itself. At one point all of the SC coal traffic, as well as Florida coal traffic, came via the CN&L into Columbia however now the line sees very little action, sometimes going entire days without any coal action.
