A Santa Fe westbound freight rounds the Tehachapi Loop on September 4, 1978. The crew aboard SD45-2 5653 will shortly pass underneath the rear section of their train as the train descends from the town of Tehachapi to Bakersfield and California's verdant Central Valley on its way to northern California.
