With winds howling across the high county of BNSF's Raton Subdivision, a pair of semaphore signals dating back to the early 1900s wait for the faithful passing of Amtrak's Southwest Chief. The eastbound train has already passed for the day and tomorrow's westbound is still rolling across the Plains, but in a few short hours, darkness will transition to day and the reliable signals will guide Amtrak's Los Angeles bound Chief across the Raton Sub., just as they've guided thousands of passenger trains for more than a century.
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
