With a thunderstorm rumbling to the north, a loaded coal train approaches the summit of Crawford Hill at Belmont, Nebraska, on June 11, 1998. Motive power consists of three Burlington Northern GE C30-7s mixed in with a Union Pacific SD40-2 and a (rare for a coal train) Cotton Belt GP60. The old single-track main line went through the cut on the right, and through Nebraska’s only railroad tunnel.
