When a class of locomotive had dwindled in numbers, and those remaining were no longer considered roadworthy, the Norfolk & Western often assigned them to Lambert’s Point to push hoppers of coal into the car dumpers. The ex-Nickel Plate RSD12’s ended up at Lamberts Point in the late 1970’s to finish their lives.
