Remarks & Notes
Santa Fe’s Super Chief/El Capitan Train 17 descends the New Mexico side of Raton Pass at Keota with four motors — 7902, 5944, 5937, 5936. Note the angle which the signal is aimed (for early view of it), the 3.4% grade above it in background, and the nine hi-level cars comprising the El Capitan section. August 1, 1970, nine months before the advent of Amtrak.

The Santa Fe's warbonnet paint scheme on passenger diesel locomotives was one of the most iconic in railroading. It appealed to travelers and modellers alike, and helped brand Santa Fe all the way from Chicago to California and Texas.
