| Delivered by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1910, this 2-8-0 worked hard hauling 48 loaded 50 ton cars or 2700 tons of crude ore at a time from the Soudan Underground Mine on the Vermillion Range to the shores of Lake Superior. This engine was donated to the City of Tower in 1962 by the DM&IR. It's still on display in Tower and it's also on the National Register of Historic Places. The Tower Soudan Historical Society did a great job in the restoration and upkeep of this display to make sure it survives for many more years. Included in this display are a DM&IR passenger car, work car and caboose along with the Tower Depot filled with artifacts from days gone by. |
