Remarks & Notes |
Built in 1914 for Ferrocarril Central Argentino, this Pacific 4-6-2 called "La Emperatriz" had the south American speed record in 1926. It could reach 300km from Buenos Aires to Rosario in 3 hours and 21 minutes @ 90 kmh average speed. Its engineer Francisco Savio was famous for this and always wore white gloves and uniform to operate this fantastic Steam machine. It had been in service until 1968 and now is preserved at Ferroclub Central Argentino , located inside Perez Workshops. |
