Remarks & Notes |
The winter blizzards in the Midwest in February 1977 wreaked havoc on the area's railroads. A southbound N&W freight, behind GP9 637, became stranded in a snow-filled cut just north of Emington. It is shown being rescued by borrowed UP rotary snowplow 900081. The plow is trying to get as close to the N&W train as possible to enable dozers and MofW employees to clear the remaining snow from around the N&W locomotives. Shortly, UP diesels will couple to the N&W train and will break it loose. |
