A well matched set of high hood EMD GP9/GP7 units arrive from Butte at the Montana Rail Link interchange yard at Garrison, Montana. The 105, 104, 106 and 103 were built by EMD for the Butte Anaconda & Pacific Railway between 1953-1957. The Montana Western Railway leased 52 miles of Burlington Northern track (ex-Northern Pacific) between Butte and Garrison beginning in Sept. 1986 (a distance of 52 miles). Train operations between Garrison and Butte returned to the BNSF Railway in July 2003. The Northern Pacific Garrison, Montana train depot is at left, behind the Great Northern 'Big Sky Blue' box car. The train has just ducked under the Interstate 90 overpass with the former Milwaukee Road 'Pacific Extension' grade (and Golden Spike ceremony occurring here on May 19, 1909) just out of view on the opposite bank of the Little Blackfoot River.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
