Remarks & Notes
Here are the controls of a Baldwin Locomotive Works steam engine 2-8-0. Delivered in 1910, this 2-8-0 worked hard hauling 48 loaded 50 ton cars or 2700 tons of crude ore from the Soudan Mine on the Vermillion Range to the shores of Lake Superior. This engine was donated to the City of Tower in 1962 by the DM&IR who replaced it with much larger engines like the Yellowstone. It's still on display in Tower and it's also on the National Register of Historic Places.

A tribute to the engineers who drive the engines of America's railways. Comments welcome from those who sat behind the trottle.
