| 160 class 5E locomotives were built for the South African Railways (SAR) between 1955 and 1959 and today the last operational member of the class is part of Impala Platinum's fleet. Sadly, this classic locomotives days are numbered and it is unlikely to survive into 2012. It is seen here on a typical winters day in the South African bushveld, hauling a load of empties from the main processing plant to No.12 shaft. |
