| Most passengers of the failed night train to Nairobi had left the train already and went on by local busses. A few, who couldn´t afford the higher bus fare, waited at the station for another diesel locomotive to get the train on the way again. Frequent failures of the ageing diesels are common, a shortage of operational diesels increases the pressure on the few working locomotives. It is unlikely that any investment in the rolling stock will be done before the future of the line has been decided: closure, rebuild to standard gauge (it is meter gauge right now) or no change at all... © www.tanago-tours.com |
