My first visit to the Deseret Railway exceeded my every expectation. From the amazing scenery to the curiosity of shooting one of two 50kV railroads in the country, with some of the most lovingly tended-to power one will ever come across on a shortline anywhere, my week spent roaming the deserts, buttes, and basins of the Deseret is one I'll not soon forget. Here, the afternoon loaded train snakes its way through Coyote Basin, under some rather dramatic skies.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
