Remarks & Notes
The exhaust clings to the cutting wall as a westbound freight blasts the last few hundred yards toward the tiny (and hopelessly under-used) Galadesitai station. Passing loops here allowed the passage of trains. This was easily the coldest day of my life, with air temperature at minus 35 degrees. Add the howling gale and it felt like minus 65. The linesmen in the hut on the left provided hospitality, green tea and welcome company. They were much amused to watch idiots like me venture out for each train that passed!
