Remarks & Notes |
The ETR 450 (Elettro Treno Rapido 450) was the first Italian tilting train (it was also called Pendolino). The first train entered service on the new Direttissima high speed line between Roma and Milano in 1989. The trains reached a maximum speed of 280 km/h (174 mph), service top speed was 250 km/h (155 mph). The ETR 450 has now been relegated to lower services with the introduction of the next generations of Pendolino trains (ETR 460, ETR 480) and non-tilting high-speed trains (ETR 500). |
