| SLGW's distinctive former UP switcher backs into the ancient wooden car barn off North Temple Street just west of downtown Salt Lake. In a remarkable bit of good fortune while swinging in to the parking lot on this snowy morning just to see if anything was moving the garage door opened and the little switcher materialized as if out of nowhere only to disappear inside almost as quickly as she'd appeared. I lived in SLC for two years and never once caught this operation, then while visiting for a quick trip over a year after moving I'm fortunate to catch not just the SLGW but several other rare shortline, industrial, and local moves in the span of two days....go figure! |
