Former Norfolk Southern GP38 with a high-short hood seen at Southern's paint shop in Chattanooga after the 1974 take over of the "old NS". The original low-short hood has been "raised" and the unit has been reconfigured for long hood forward operation (the control stand can be seen on what once was the conductor's side) by Southern's Pegram Shop in Atlanta. The ex-NS GP38s never received dynamic brakes, however, some of them were equipped with larger fuel tanks later in their careers.
