Union Pacific's Cane Creek subdivision in eastern Utah traverses approximately 35 miles of varied terrain. The last fourteen miles of this branch line are probably the most photographed with the red rock cliffs, Bootlegger Tunnel, Corona Arch, and other rock formations along the Colorado River. However, when I am following a train back to the main line at Brendel, I find myself drawn to milepost 7. From this location, you can watch a train roll through several curves as it covers three miles of the branch line. Monday evening, I followed the Moab Dirt Train from Seven Mile (MP 21) to the main, and yes, I stopped at milepost 7.
