On the BNSF Railway in southern California, one gets a steady diet of double-stack trains. But, there are a couple exceptions: The trains between Barstow and Watson (near the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach) and between Barstow and San Diego (which has no intermodal facilities). These trains feature "real" freight cars as exemplified, on November 6th, 2014, by train M-SDGBAR1-05A (Regular Merchadise; San Diego to Barstow), pulled by GE ES44DCs 4163 and 7831.
