Remarks & Notes |
Beginning in 1942 under the leadership of Robert Young, new ways of thinking and operating were established for the C&O. One noticeable change was the adoption of a new slogan for the railroad. The "For Progress" slogan exemplified the forward thinking ideas and technology embraced by the railroad such as using larger freight cars, switching from steam to diesel and being one of the first railroads to use a computer system. While this slogan caught public attention, it would pale in comparison to that famous feline who later adorned the sides of freight cars. |
