| The Empire Builder takes the switch onto the track through Saint Paul Park, towards Grey Cloud Island, and on towards Hastings and the Mississippi River lift bridge. This is the more scenic of the two routes between Newport and Hastings, since there is a section for several miles where the tracks directly parallel the Mississippi River. |
