Brand new fire-fighting and rescue train "LRZ14" (Lösch- und Rettungszug LRZ14) of the SBB leaving Erstfeld for a test drive on the Gotthard line to Göschenen. The 4 vehicles train from Windhoff/Germany will be based in Erstfeld and is decorated with the blazons of canton URI. It will serve for the new Gotthard base tunnel, which will open for traffic in 2016, as well as for the Gotthard mountain line. The train can reach 100 km/h. Each rescue unit has room for about 60 people and this units will operate in a continous shuttle mode, while the equipment unit and the fire fighting and water supply unit will remain at the scene of the accident. An equal train will be based near the south portal of the Gotthard base tunnel in Biasca.
