Remarks & Notes
"Shore Express Redux"
The second day of NJ Transit's new direct Shore Express service from New York Penn Station to Bay Head on the North Jersey Coast Line finds the same consist assigned to the first train of the day, with 4518 shoving westbound. The north shore of Raritan Bay in Perth Amboy might actually be the only beach that is in direct sight of the Coast Line, but this doesn't quite count as the "Jersey Shore". This new service allows passengers from New York to access New Jersey beaches with a one-seat ride from the city. This has not been possible since the days of the famous engine change at South Amboy where GG1 electrics handed trains off to waiting E8s. NJTs "dual power" ALP-45DP locomotives make this new service possible.
