Cass after dark. Three geared locomotives stand guard at the old C&O Railroad Depot in downtown Cass, WV, awaiting their next call to action at daybreak. At the front of the line-up is Heisler #6, and behind her, Shays 4 and 5. The large, white structure behind and above the depot is the old Cass Company Store building, which today houses the Cass Scenic Railroad's gift shop and the "Last Run" restaurant.
For aficianados of geared steam engines, it's "almost heaven." Here are some scenes from the park's annual Railfan Weekends, as well as some private charters.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
