Union Pacific's steam crew makes final preparations to move Big Boy 4014 out of the Los Angeles County Fairplex facility just before Midnight on January 25th, 2014. Within just a few short hours, UP SD70ACe 1996 (the Southern Pacific Heritage unit) will arrive to couple onto the 4014 and tow it onto Metrolink's mainline, just behind the engine. From there, it will slowly make its way to the UP and nearby West Colton Yard in Bloomington for further evaluation and preparations for its trip this spring to Cheyenne, and an eventual return to steam!
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
