| On a beautiful fall afternoon in the late 1950s, the daily westbound Rio Grande road freight curved past the Los Pinos water tank and climbs out of the valley toward Cumbres Pass. At the top of the pass, mid-train helper 488 will be cut out, and lead engine 487 will take the train the rest of the way into Chama. |
