The newly built Colorado Railcar DMUs were left at Denver's Union Terminal for BNSF to pick up and deliver to TriMET in Portland. The DMUs will be used for TriMET's WES (Westside Express Service), between Wilsonville and Beaverton Ore. WES will be starting their service very soon. I can only hope the passengers using WES will enjoy the DMUs as much as I did designing them. I'm a big fan of passenger rail as a transport solution and the DMU could well be the answer to the US's much-needed transport problem. This sort of thing is well-and-truly overdue! Posted by tsched on January 27, 2009 Nice photo and story. I live in Beaverton, OR and have been watching the test runs of these cars just a few minutes from my house. This coming Friday, WES will be offering free rides on a first-come, first-serve basis. A friend and I plan on riding the first one out from Beaverton down to Wilsonville. And I'll take photos.
