Remarks: On this day, a Crawford Hill helper set is returning downgrade to back to Crawford to await their next assignment. I have noticed the scorched appearance of the decal stripes is typical of many SD75's that have been ran hard in helper service on Crawford hill.

Remarks: The eastbound Montrose local is being pulled on this day by UP 1363 and 1364, 1/2 mile west of Roubideau. This pair of GP40-2's have been recently rebuilt and repainted. Both locomotives don't look half bad in their new lighting style UP paint.

Remarks: In this unique view, a westbound KCPL coal empty pulled by BNSF 9389 has just crested over the top of the hill at MP 439. A withering old barn from the ghost town of Orella can be seen in the distance.

Remarks: A rare solid lash up of SD70ACe's is pulling this westbound coal empty past MP 440 near the old ghost town of Orella. In the spring of 2008, heavy rains helped to relieve 5+ years of drought and brought out the beautiful green grasslands typical for this area. In the background, the cows from the nearby Forbes Ranch are getting their fill of luscious green grass.

Remarks: With only a few seconds of afternoon sunlight to spare. I captured the Truckee spreader working westbound from the Norden snowshed clearing the tracks after a heavy Christmas day snow storm the day before. The crew was working hard to clear the tracks, as a new storm was quickly moving in.

Remarks: I consider myself privileged to have the opportunity to be not only the photographer, but also the designer of these DMUs as well. The newly built Colorado Railcar DMUs were left at Denver's Union Terminal for BNSF to pick up and deliver to TriMET in Portland. The DMUs will be used for TriMET's WES (Westside Express Service), between Wilsonville and Beaverton Ore. WES will be starting their service very soon. I can only hope the passengers using WES will enjoy the DMUs as much as I did designing them.

Remarks: 9385 pulling a coal load over the South Platte River This bridge is only visible during winter/spring, as the leaves from the trees block the view during the summer. Bridge was built in 1899 but rebuilt and placed on new pilings.
