Two of my favorite things, women and trains!

Posted by M. A. Brown on June 9, 2008

I wish all the female railroaders looked like like that!!! HOLY COW!!!

Posted by Alex Moss on June 9, 2008

Dang, Why cant their be more female railroaders that look that good?

Posted by David Price on June 9, 2008

Freeman Hubbard is smiling today...

Well, I work with three girls at BNSF and not one of them is that good looking. However they still are great co-workers. I`am sure she has taken her share of BS from the guys, which is unfortunate.

You captured a great moment in American railroading and the people, both men and women who keep the trains rolling.

Posted by Steven M. Welch on June 9, 2008

Is there a train in this photo?! I only see a hottttt blonde! ;-)

Posted by Andy Toms on June 9, 2008

Why can't the railroaders look like that around here?

Posted by Joe Hinson on June 9, 2008

Such a nice shot in so many ways, including the obvious! PCA from me.

Posted by Mont Panichjeerasin on June 9, 2008

Excellent human element shot, especially a woman who operate the train. It's not easy too see.

Posted by David Howarth Jr. on June 10, 2008

I guess this just goes ahead to show that women can handle the job just as well as men are able to. But really, is this just a calendar shot of women and trains?! :-)

I suppose that this lady is the employee in charge of answering to the 1-800 "Hotline" whose phone number is painted besides her. I am also guessing that this picture is an advertisement for the hotline, so that railroad employees use it more often...

Posted by B.A.Harrison on June 10, 2008

A fine, fine shot. Hotline?

Posted by Adam Christman (Penn Rail Videos) on June 10, 2008

Nice one. You sure that isn't a 1-900 hotline? LOL

Posted by Michael DeMarco on June 10, 2008

Too bad she smokes. That kills it.

Posted by Nick Kraynak on June 10, 2008

Dude I was thinking the same thing! Smoking is the biggest turn off ever.

Posted by Chris Brown on June 11, 2008

Ten bucks to whoever can spot the train :)

Posted by Andrew Blaszczyk (2) on June 11, 2008

Although I agree that this is a visibly-appealing photo for obvious reasons and agree the smoking is the deal breaker there is more to it. The careful composition and framing are excellent from the use of the cab lines to the vertical railings on the right. The rule of thirds composition could not be any better from the conductor(?) in the top left to the young lady in the bottom right. The fact that she is smoking (literally) adds to the overall image in showing that the job can be stressful especially at Union Station and that breaks like this are welcome relief. The twirling of the hair, signs of fatigue and heat, and warm afternoon light are the icing on this excellent piece of photographic cake. Congrats on a stunning image in every way possible, Luke. I'm sure I speak for a lot of commenters and viewers when I say this is one of my favorites.

8) I hope she makes it.

Posted by Doug Wolfe on June 11, 2008

The photograph really captures the moment. And judging by all of the comments I think it is the type of photo this site strives for....interesting and something people can talk about. Great shot Luke!

Posted by Greg Primrose on June 11, 2008

It's also interesting to me because it begs the question; what is her job? She's not wearing a uniform, so she doesn't work with the public but she's clean which suggests shes not a mechanic.

Posted by David Tuttle on June 11, 2008

Boy... way to capture a moment. Excellent in every respect, Luke.

"Ten bucks to whoever can spot the train :)" Thats sure tempting, but I still cant see a train! ... Seriously good shot, Well done.

Posted by Michael William Sullivan on June 26, 2008

Easily the best looking conductor on any railroad in North America. Hands down.

Posted by William Duvall on December 27, 2008

I like how you can even make out her brand of cigarettes, Newports.
