| Remarks: After making a brief servicing stop in St. Cloud, X4449 (ex-SP GS-4 4449) accelerates with the American Freedom Train southbound on the Burlington Northern as it passes by the Minnesota State Reformatory near St. Cloud. The Reformatory tower is visible just above the Yard Limits sign. The AFT is making the equipment move from Fargo, ND to its next display location at Sioux Falls, SD traveling on the BN and C&NW between those two cities. No diesel helper required on this move. Scanned grayscale from original Kodachrome 25 color transparency for publication in the Summer 2007 issue of the MINNEGAZETTE - the quarterly publication of the Minnesota Transportation Museum.

Does anybody else notice the irony of the "Freedom" train passing a "Reformatory"? Thanks for sharing this one Ralph, that YL sign is a classic too! |
