Remarks:A 4-8-4, Not Exactly!. That's MILW 261 engineer Steve Sandberg our engineer on Steve Glischinski's 1970's era photo freight. From the cab, Steve is admiring the concrete piers that support the drawbridge. MNTX 6234 passes on the east end of the Cedar Bend drawbridge over the St. Croix River during one of several photo run-bys at this location.
Remarks:First Revenue Run in new BN paint scheme. MNTX 6234 is ready to make its first revenue run of the season from the Osceola, WI depot. Both MNTX 6234 and MNTX GP7 559 pulled the train today. The mail crane with the station name Osceola is left of the main track. The former Soo Line depot was built in 1916 and has been completely restored. The semaphore signal does not govern. BN 6234 with its new "Cascade" Green paint after returning from WSOR's Horicon paint shop last December.
Remarks:BN Heritage - NEW Paint. BN SD9 6234 (nee-C&S 839 b/d 4-59) has just returned from Wisconsin & Southern's Horicon, WI paint shop with a new coat of BN "Cascade" Green and retaining the BN 6234 road number. The 6234 also received a complete cab interior repaint. The MNTX FRA reporting mark has not yet been applied. As delivered to MTM by BNSF in October 2003, see my photo of BNSF 6234. MNTX 6234 is in regular service pulling weekend train rides from Osceola, WI on CN's North Division Dresser Sub.
Remarks:UP DDA40X CENTENNIAL 6936 in Freight Service - 1976. UP DDA40X 6936, UP SD40-2H "Fast Forty" 8012 and UP DDA40X 6923 westbound on priority TOFC. During the mid to late 1970s, two Centennials bracketing a 8000-series high-geared SD40-2H "Fast Forty" were the normal motive power combination on high-speed priority UP TOFC trains.
Remarks:Spirit of '76' 1976. The second BN "Bicentennial" 1976, nee-GN 323/BN 9853/6397. Renumbered back to BN 6397 in January 1979. Only 20 SDP40s built - six for GN and fourteen for NdeM.
