Remarks: Pere Marquette 1225 and NKP 765 were together in West Virginia operating side-by-side on the CSX mainline for the 1991 NRHS Convention as seen here. Eighteen years later the two are once again together operating side-by-side during a photo charter at Owosso, MI as seen in this track level view.
Remarks: A pair of Alaska GP40-2s lead a southbound nearly 7,000 foot long empty container/freight train from Anchorage to Whittier to meet the arrival of the CN barge from Prince Rupert, BC with the next round of CN interchange for the Alaska RR. The train is seen here stretched out along the Turnagain Arm and rolling by the siding at Brookman, just a few miles north of Girdwood.
Remarks: A pair of CSX ES44ACs lead a string of brand new TILX hoppers on a loaded coal train via NS trackage rights near Gate City on a crystal clear and unusually cool summer morning.
Remarks: The Northbound Denali Express rolls across Ship Creek in downtown Anchorage enroute to Denali and eventually Fairbanks. While it is operating this day with a HEP-equipped SD70MAC, this train can also operate with the railroad's freight SD70s since these cars have their own power generators.
Remarks: This former N&W SD40-2 leads the eastbound Frisco local through Gate City as dusk begins to set on an unseasonably cool July evening. With thousands of locomotives stored across the country it is nice to see some classic power still earning its keep on the mainline.
