Remarks: Macintosh 0-4-4T 55189 crosses the Avon Viaduct on the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway in Scotland. The formation of the train typifies the mixed trains that ran on Scottish branch lines in the 1950s. The coach livery is also correct for the period, known to British fans a blood & custard . This railway is the home of the Scottish Railway Preservation Society. This part of the railway which leads to the main lines at Manuel does not yet see regular traffic. 55186 has been renumbered for the photographic charter.
Remarks: Snow is now a rare event in Southern England, this years few days of the white stuff coincided with the test running of our newest trains, the 140mph class 395. These units have been built to provide high speed services to various Kent towns utilising the hish speed channel tunnel rail link to London St Pancras.
Remarks: A multiplicity of colour temperatures greet the class 67 hauled 2G13 17:08 Edinburgh to Edinburgh as it heads South across the famous Firth of Forth railway bridge. The train is due at Dalmeny 1854 so is running just a couple of minutes late. A 20second exposure at f8 400ISO has captured the headlamp and coach light streaking across the last cantilever section of the bridge.
Remarks: 5029, 'Nunny Castle' is 75 years old this year but is still good for a turn of speed, the fireman observes the road ahead as the elegant 4-6-0 forges through rural English countyside. True train speed about 20mph, panned at 1/15th second.
Remarks: The crew of class Q6 0-8-0 63395 keep and eye on the photographer whilst standing in the UP Goods loop at Loughborough Station. Thanks to Simon Hopkins for the lighting arrangements.
